Actor Aliaksandr Ždanovič evacuated from Belarus

February 20, BPN. Popular actor Aliaksandr Ždanovič (“Maliavanyč”), ex-presenter of children’s TV show Kalychanka (Lullaby), was evacuated from Belarus because of persecution by the authorities, said Andrej Stryžak, co-founder of the BySol Solidarity Fund.

According to the Cultural Headquarters of the New Belarus, the special services were interested in the actor and he was summoned for questioning by the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee.

In May 2021, the 57-year-old Ždanovič was fired from the Gorky National Academic Drama Theater, where he had worked for 36 years. In November 2020, he served nine days of administrative arrest for participating in one of the protest rallies.
