Military security threats to Belarus will increase significantly in the near future, Lukašenka says
March 10, BPN. The situation in the region and its development forecast shows that threats to the military security of Belarus would “significantly aggravate in the short and medium term,” said Aliaksandr Lukašenka at a meeting with the security services on March 10.
He stated that he convened the meeting to “discuss the most important issues of military security of the country for the future,” because “there will be no peace.”
“Our army needs to develop using the modern experience of military operations,” Lukašenka was quoted as saying by his press service. “To date, we can already see the peculiarities of the military operation in Ukraine. We have information about the continued build-up of troops and the nature of the actions of forces near the western borders of our Belarus.
According to Lukašenka, on the part of Ukraine, there has been “restoration of protection covering separate sections of the border.”
“We have yet to compile and study the experience of combat operations as a whole for the entire period of the operation in Ukraine. There’s no getting away from that. We also have to take some measures today,” Lukašenka said.
Russian troops deployed in Belarus are being used to invade Ukraine. Russia also uses Belarusian territory for air strikes against Ukraine.
Previously, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Belarus “supports the occupier in ensuring the supply of fuel and lubricants and providing its railway and airfield network.”
