Ukrainian envoy blasts Minsk’s propaganda for sowing enmity

September 14, BPN. Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Ihor Kyzym has said Belarusian propagandists and officials are trying to sow baseless enmity between Belarusians and Ukrainians.

On September 13, state-run television channel ONT aired a feature accusing Ukrainian nationalists of extermination of Belarusian civilians during the World War II. Prosecutor General Andrej Švied was shown saying: “There is not a single region in our country where Ukrainian punitive battalions did not leave a mark.” The well-known propaganda narrative about a Nazi revival in today’s Ukraine was repeated.

Kyzym said on Facebook that “Ukrainian” police units involved in crimes on Belarusian soil were called that “only because they were formed on Ukrainian territory.” He said that Belarusian propagandists followed Moscow’s narratives and preferred not to see that Nazism resurrected in the form of Russism.
