Cichanoŭskaja urges Munich leaders to help ordinary Belarusians, isolate regime
November 29, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja urged the Munich Leaders’ Meeting in Bucharest to support a recent European Parliament resolution condemning Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime, her foreign policy adviser Franak Viačorka told BPN.
Cichanoŭskaja also advocated support for ordinary Belarusians and assistance in visa matters, he added.
Other topics included mechanisms to hold the Belarusian regime accountable and declare Belarusian government security forces, intelligence services and propaganda officers members of a criminal ring, he added.
“The entire democratic world should join forces and exert max pressure on Putin and Łukašenka’s regime, support Ukraine and help resolve the crisis in Belarus,” Cichanoŭskaja tweeted after the meeting.
The Munich Leaders’ Meeting precedes the NATO foreign ministers’ talks in Bucharest on November 29 and 30 and the Munich Security Conference scheduled for February 2023. Cichanoŭskaja is not participating in either of them.
On December 1, she will address a meeting of OSCE foreign ministers in Łódź, Poland, as well as the Kyiv Security Forum via videoconference.
