Łukašenka set to enhance compensation for security forces’ services
December 23, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka has told officials that all decisions in the interests of the security bloc, including those related to housing and remuneration, should be carried out without fail.
He warned that the system of remuneration for military personnel, intelligence services, and in particular, the State Security Committee (KGB), should not be unbalanced.
“We will solve this problem,” his press office quoted him as saying about housing issues. “It’s bad that we kept our people in this state. A military man – I often say it like a man – who, God forbid, in the event or war or anything else faces death, should know that their families will be protected and children will have a place to live.”
A few weeks earlier, he said that over 33,000 people “with shoulder insignia” were on the waiting list for housing. He ordered officials to draft legislation that would allowing them to buy out the apartments that they rent while on active duty at significantly reduced prices.
