Belarusian customs says to be in full force to handle border traffic influx

December 27, BPN. The Belarusian State Customs Committee has said that it deployed additional personnel to handle cross-border traffic, accusing Polish counterparts of failure to respond to the Christmas-related influx at the shared border.

Belarusian customs officers have been handling up to 800 vehicles coming in from Poland a day at the Brest checkpoint, it said, noting that more than 300 cars and 900 trucks were waiting to cross the border into Poland on the morning of December 27.

Many Belarusians travel to Poland for Christmas shopping, the committee said.
