Russian consulate general opens in Hrodna

December 28, BPN. Russia has opened a consulate general in Hrodna.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Russian Ambassador Boris Gryzlov said 9,000 Belarusian residence permit holders lived in the region. “The consulate will help address emerging issues, offer notary services and deal with passport, citizenship and visa matters,” he said.

Hrodna Region Executive Committee Chairman Uładzimir Karanik said Russia imported 60 percent of products manufactured in the region. It was the main investor in the region’s real sector, with the Astraviec Nuclear Power Plant being a major investment project.

Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Ihar Nazaruk said Belarus will soon open a consulate general in St. Petersburg.
