Belarus passes legislation against “unfriendly” states, their “accomplices”

January 6, BPN. The Belarusian parliament on December 21 adopted three bills targeting the so-called “unfriendly” countries and their “accomplices,” while Alaksandr Łukašenka signed them into law on January 3.

It was not until January 6 that the National Legal Internet Portal published the three laws.

The new legislation authorizes gray imports of goods and allows pirate use of computer programs, audiovisual and musical works.

It also provides for temporary administration, for up to 18 months, for foreign companies that terminate their activities in Belarus without sufficient reasons.

The law on the seizure of property targets companies and individuals who allegedly intend “to commit unfriendly acts” against Belarus, or have encouraged foreign states to take “unfriendly” actions.
