Cichanoŭskaja says 2,000 volunteers cooperate with opposition from within Belarus
January 10, BPN. A 2,000-strong network of volunteers continues to work with democratic forces from within Belarus, opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has told an online event.
Presenting a strategy for 2023, she said: “These people can go to jail for contact with democratic forces. But they’re spreading our message, continuing to work with people.”
She named communication with supporters in Belarus a priority. Preventing the Belarusian army from going to war in Ukraine, working to free political prisoners, and creating an international coalition in support of democracy in Belarus are also important elements of the strategy.
Cichanoŭskaja advocated comprehensive assistance to political emigrants, promotion of Belarusian culture, and preparation for the transit of power in Minsk.
