Belarus’ industrial production down 5.4 percent in 2022

January 17, BPN. Belarus’ industrial output contracted by 5.4 percent in 2022, the National Statistical Committee (Belstat) said.

It amounted to 170 billion rubels at current prices (some $64.8 billion), it added.

Belstat reported a drop of 6.2-percent in manufacturing; 2.3 percent in gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air; 2.6 percent in water supply and waste collection. At the same time, the mining industry grew by 2.5 percent.

In December 2022, industrial production increased by 2.5 percent from November’s level.

The government expected industrial production to fall by four percent in 2022.
