Opposition leader discusses international coalition for free Belarus in Davos
January 18, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Sviatłana Cichanoŭskaja discussed an international coalition in support of an independent and free Belarus at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, her press office reported.
“I am sure that Poland, Lithuania, [other] EU countries and the United States will support this initiative,” she said.
On January 17, the politician participated in a discussion of European defense with the presidents of Lithuania, Poland and Northern Macedonia and met with Spain’s prime minister and foreign minister.
Official Belarusian delegations have not been invited to the WEF since 1992, when Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Belarus Stanisłaŭ Šuškievič addressed the forum. Dzianis Kolha, founder of the Global Shapers’ hub in Minsk, attended the forum in 2016.
