Health ministry says flu cases rising in Belarus, no Kraken detected

January 18, BPN. Belarusian health authorities have not detected any Kraken COVID-19 cases, the health ministry’s press office reported.

Influenza and acute respiratory infections have been on the rise in recent weeks, it added.

The Kraken subvariant reportedly appeared in October 2022 following infection with two different strains of Omicron in the United States. It then spread to 35 other countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that Kraken is more contagious and can spread faster than other COVID-19 variants. At the same time, it stressed that there is no reason to consider it more harmful.

Belarusian healthcare authorities do not disclose statistics on COVID-19 and other respiratory infections.
