Cichanoŭskaja, Sandu discuss international cooperation
January 18, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja and Moldovan President Maia Sandu have met at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Cichanoŭskaja’s press office has told BPN.
Cichanoŭskaja expressed support for Sandu’s efforts to bring Moldova into the EU, as well as “in connection with the crisis caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine,” it said.
They also discussed cooperation in the international arena and the participation of Belarusian democrats in a European Political Community summit, to be hosted by Moldova in June.
The two politicians had already met in May 2022 at the European People’s Party (EPP) congress in Rotterdam.
Last October, Moldovan MPs set up a “group to support a democratic Belarus.” Its 20 members include senior MPs Mihai Popșoi and Doina Gherman. A member of the parliamentary committee on economy, Marina Morozova, headed the initiative.
