Łukašenka shown Belarus-made attack UAV

January 20, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka was shown a Belarus-made unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at an exhibition in Minsk on January 20, his press office’s unofficial Telegram channel Pul Pervogo reported.

The Hunter, a reconnaissance attack helicopter, is designed to destroy enemy firing points in urban hard-to-access areas, a major pro-government Telegram channel said.

The UAV is reportedly protected from anti-radar missiles, equipped with radiation warning and a barrier sensor and can carry a 7.62 mm Kalashnikov machine gun, sixteen anti-tank bombs, and eight unguided missiles with a range of up to 1.8 km.

In May 2022, Dźmitryj Pantus of the State Defense Industry Committee said that Belarus was developing a single-use attack drone, to be tested and put into service in 2022.

However, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin denied on October 21 that Belarus produced attack UAVs, describing attack drones as “a manifestation of aggression” and noting that Belarus “did not need them.” Belarus mainly builds reconnaissance drones, he stressed.
