Cichanoŭskaja discusses aid to democratic Belarus with Netherlands, UK, Microsoft
January 22, BPN. Belarusians who fled abroad from politically-motivated persecution often face problems with their ID papers, Belarusian opposition leader Sviatłana Cichanoŭskaja told Dutch Deputy Prime Minister Wopke Hoekstra at their meeting in Davos, her press office reported.
The opposition is currently trying to resolve the issue of travel documents for Belarusians in the European Union, she added.
Cichanoŭskaja stressed the need for holding Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime accountable “not only for war crimes in Ukraine but also for the terror of the past 28 years.”
The politician met former British Prime Minister Tony Blair on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, asking for his assistance in holding consultations on the political crisis in Belarus.
Cichanoŭskaja also discussed support to the Belarusian media with Teresa Hutson, vice president at Microsoft, who assured her of Microsoft’s support of the Belarusian language and access to Microsoft services for Belarusians.
