Several Kalinoŭski regiment’s fighters wounded last week
January 23, BPN. The Vołat battalion of the Belarusian Kastuś Kalinoŭski volunteer regiment fighting Russia in Ukraine remains at the hottest spot of the front, spokeswoman Kryścina Stankievič (call sign Čabor), told journalists.
Last week, soldiers were holding back continued enemy attacks using grenade launchers and mortars, she said. Several of them were wounded, their lives are not in danger, she added.
Soldiers of the Litvin battalion were involved in assault operations together with Ukrainian military, Stankievič said. Some soldiers of the battalion have been rested, while others are preparing for a new combat mission.
The regiment’s UAV unit worked near Svatove and Bakhmut and successfully carried out reconnaissance of enemy positions, she noted.
Belarusian volunteers formed the Kalinoŭski regiment in Ukraine in March 2022, initially as a battalion. Its stated mission is to liberate Belarus by defending Ukraine.
Belarusian investigators opened a criminal case against its members.
In November 2022, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakoŭ said that authorities identified almost 160 Belarusians fighting in Ukraine.
