Belarusian banks’ aggregate regulatory capital up 26 percent in 2022
January 25, BPN. The Belarusian banks’ aggregate regulatory capital amounted to 17.503 billion rubels (about $6.7 billion) on January 1.
The National Bank of Belarus recorded an increase of 3.578 billion rubels or 25.7 percent ($1.4 billion) since the start of 2022.
The aggregate capital increased by 0.18 percent month on month.
Total regulatory capital is one of the most important indicators of banks’ reliability, as it shows their ability to absorb potential financial losses at their own expense without causing any losses to clients.
Regulatory capital includes authorized capital, other funds, additional paid-in capital, retained earnings and other components determined by the central bank.
Belarus has 23 banks with foreign-owned shares in 14 banks exceeding 50 percent of their authorized capital.
