Former political prisoner Eduard Łobaŭ dies fighting in Ukraine

January 27, BPN. Former Belarusian political prisoner Eduard Łobaŭ has died fighting in Ukraine, his mother’s friend Ludmiła Mirzajanava says on social media.

“He lived in Ukraine and defended it,” the mother of former political prisoner Fiodar Mirzajanaŭ (sentenced over 2010 unrest) said.

Łobaŭ was arrested together with Małady Front chairman Źmicier Daškievič in Minsk on December 18, 2010, one day before the vote in the presidential election. On March 24, 2011 he was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment on charges of beating passers-by. He moved to Ukraine after serving his term.

Since the beginning of the war, 34 Belarusian volunteer fighters have died repelling Russian aggression.
