Opposition politicians discuss sanctions, support with US official

February 2, BPN. Pavieł Łatuška, Valer Sachaščyk and Alaksandr Azaraŭ of the opposition’s cabinet discussed further sanctions against Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime with Robin Dunnigan, deputy assistant secretary at the US Department of State, the cabinet’s press office reported.

The meeting also focused on “assistance to Belarusians in their struggle for the restoration of the rule of law and democratic change in Belarus.”

On January 30, Belarusian opposition leader Sviatłana Cichanoŭskaja met with Dunnigan, in charge of Central and Eastern Europe at the Department of State, to talk about developments in Belarus and Ukraine.
