Police solve 1,700 serious economic crimes in 2022 – minister
February 3, BPN. Police in Belarus solved more than 1,700 serious and very serious economic crimes in 2022, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakoŭ said.
“The effectiveness of activities on corruption and bribery is evident,” he said, as quoted by the interior ministry’s press office on February 2.
In November, Belarusian law enforcers reportedly arrested the local head of Alpen Pharma, a Swiss pharmaceutical company.
Separately that month, Investigative Committee Chairman Dźmitryj Hara said the authorities were planning to prosecute major economic offenders under special procedure, i.e. in absentia. He said that authorities might seize their assets as compensation for the damage.
