Łukašenka urges more cooperation with Sri Lanka

February 4, BPN. Cooperation between Belarus and Sri Lanka is “gradually improving,” especially in the political and educational spheres, Alaksandr Łukašenka said in a congratulatory message to President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe on Independence Day.

Significant potential for systematic and multidimensional cooperation remains in such sectors as industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, he added.

Trade between Belarus and Sri Lanka amounted to $39.6 million in 2021, with Belarusian exports at $31 million and imports from Sri Lanka at $8.6 million.

Belarus exported potash fertilizers, carbon, paper, malt, and tire cords, while Sri Lanka sold tea and natural vegetable fibers.
