Belarus willing to make attack aircraft with Russia’s support – Łukašenka
February 17, BPN. Belarus is ready to manufacture attack aircraft with technological support from Russia, Alaksandr Łukašenka has told Vladimir Putin at the Novo-Ogaryovo residence outside Moscow.
A video clip of the meeting was published by a Łukašenka-affiliated Telegram channel, Pul Pervogo.
The Belarusian leader said his country can start making the aircraft “that performs well in Ukraine, a fighter, a workhorse.”
Russian state-run news agency RIA Novosti published a video clip of Łukašenka specifying that it is the MiG 25.
Łukašenka said Belarus had implemented defense and security agreements between him and Putin in full.
According to Łukašenka, plants in Belarus make about 1,000 components for the passenger planes, MC-21 and Sukhoi Superjet. Without specifying the timeframe, he said Russian firms ordered and paid for more than $300 million worth of IT services in Belarus.
Belarus would like its companies to participate in a Russian aircraft manufacturing program on a systematic basis, Belarusian Prime Minister Raman Hałoŭčanka said on February 3, following talks with Ulyanovsk Governor Aleksey Russkikh.
