Supreme Court to hear Aŭtuchovič case appeal on March 31
February 21, BPN. The Belarusian Supreme Court will hear an appeal by Mikałaj Aŭtuchovič and other convicts in his criminal case, including activist Uładzimir Hundar, on March 31, Hundar’s wife told BPN.
On October 17, the Hrodna Regional Court found 12 defendants in the “Aŭtuchovič case” guilty and sentenced them to 2.5-25 years’ imprisonment. It sentenced Hundar to 18 years and a fine.
At the end of January, he went on another trial for allegedly insulting a prosecutorial worker.
Hundar was first prosecuted in May 2021 for alleged violence against an official. On May 20, 2021 the Brest Regional Court sentenced him to three years in prison. Hundar, who has no leg, supposedly threatened investigators and destroyed his own mobile phone during a search.
All the defendants in the case were declared political prisoners by human rights groups.
