Congress to found ruling party scheduled for March 18
February 22, BPN. The founding congress of the Biełaja Ruś party will be held on March 18, senator Aleh Ramanaŭ told the Council of the Republic on February 22.
Over 1,000 delegates have been nominated to the forthcoming congress.
“As the party’s ideological basis we see the ideology of Belarusian statehood, the concepts and values laid down in our Constitution, which we voted for, and the overall concepts on which the life of our sovereign Belarusian state is built,” said Ramanaŭ, who heads pro-government association Biełaja Ruś.
The party organizing committee first met on February 7 in Minsk. Ahead of the meeting, Ramanaŭ stressed that the association will not be transformed into a party. “This party is being built from scratch. The Biełaja Ruś public association […] stays in the political and public space of our country,” he said.
The senator said the “formal creation of the party” will be completed by the end of spring.
