February 24, BPN. Marko Koplimaa, an Estonian diplomat, has begun work in Vilnius as special representative with the Belarusian opposition.
“It is my honor to start work as the Estonian Special Representative to the Belarus opposition. Working in Vilnius in support of democracy,” he tweeted on February 23.
Commenting on the development, Franak Viačorka, an advisor to Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja, said:
“That’s an important symbol of recognition of the Belarusians’ struggle for democracy and independence.”
Tallinn does not recognize Alaksandr Łukašenka as Belarus’ lawfully elected president and shares the EU’s sanctions policy against Minsk.
