Łukašenka presents Ukraine kids transfer to Belarus as rescue

July 5, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka has dismissed allegations of his involvement in the alleged deportation of Ukrainian children from Russian-occupied territories, presenting it as a rescue operation

“It is simply barbaric, especially for the West, to say that we are pursuing some evil goal here,” he told foreign reporters in Minsk.

He praised Paralympic athlete Alaksiej Tałaj, a motivational speaker, for his involvement in arranging the recuperation and treatment of children from eastern Ukraine in Belarus. He claimed that the children go back home afterward.

Łukašenka added that the Union State funded the initiative on his instructions.

In March, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Vladimir Putin and his children’s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, seeking to bring them to account for the alleged deportations. Belarusian opposition activists are working towards a similar warrant against Łukašenka.
