Cichanoŭskaja wishes Belarusians peace and light

December 24, Pozirk. In her Christmas greetings, opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has wished Belarusians “peace, goodness, and light that will not let darkness seize our hearts.”

Christmas is “a great opportunity to get together with family, relatives, and friends and say kind words to each other,” she said.

She recalled the Christmas wafer-sharing custom observed in some Catholic countries. “In this way, people express support and care, sharing their warmth and love. But we, Belarusians, share all this selflessly every day, not only at Christmas – through letters, phone calls, hugs, and kind words to those who need support,” she said.

“Christmas is a holiday of hope and faith,” National Anti-Crisis Management head Pavieł Łatuška said in his greeting. “Hope for better times and faith that everything will be fine tomorrow.

“And Belarusians not only believe in it, but also take responsibility and continue to fight for their future. And every step we take is a contribution to our tomorrow. Our people have gone through many trials, which have made and continue to make them stronger.”

Poland’s special representative for the Belarusian democratic forces Artur Michalski, Latvian Ambassador to Belarus Einars Semanis, Lithuanian Ambassador-at-Large Asta Andrijauskienė, special envoy for the relations between Sweden and Belarusian pro-democracy forces Christina Johannesson, and Estonia’s envoy for relations with Belarusian pro-democracy forces Marko Koplimaa recorded a joint address to the Belarusians.

They wished their “friends and neighbors” freedom, solidarity, and victory.

In a separate address to the Poles in Belarus, Michalski said, “The best and the worst times come and go, but our community remains. Today’s difficult times will also pass.”
