Official election turnout lowest since 2000
February 26, Pozirk. The central election commission has said that 73.09 percent of registered voters cast their ballots in the February 20-25 parliamentary election.
This is the lowest turnout after 2000.
The official turnout was 61.08 percent and 53.78 percent in the two rounds of the 2000 parliamentary election.
The central election commission reported a turnout of 90.14 percent in 2004, 76.74 percent in 2008, 74.61 percent in 2012, 74.68 percent in 2016 and 77.37 percent in 2019.
It reported a turnout of 84.28 percent at the 2020 presidential election after 86.75 percent in 2015, 90.65 percent in 2010, 92.94 percent in 2006, and 83.86 percent in 2001.
Turnout at referenda after 2000 was also higher: 92.28 percent in 2004 and 78.63 percent in 2022.
Early voting turnout hit a new record in 2024 with 41.71 percent, falling short only of 2020 referendum, in which 42.93 percent voted early, according to the central election commission.
