Latvia’s health ministry against banning drug imports from Belarus

April 28, Pozirk. The Latvian health ministry opposes the ban on the imports of drugs from Belarus and Russia which account for 10 percent of the market, citing a lack of available substitutes, rus.tvnet.lv reports.

MP Uģis Mitrevics described continuing imports of Belarusian and Russian medications by Latvia as “absurd” in the current circumstances.

Latvia’s health authorities had enough time after Russia had launched a full-scale war on Ukraine to find suitable replacements as it was done in other sectors, said Delna, the Latvian chapter of Transparency International watchdog.
