Detention Center No 1 moved outside Minsk

April 29, Pozirk. Pre-trial Detention Center No 1 has been moved from downtown Minsk to a new facility outside the city near the village of Paškovičy, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports, citing an announcement posted at the entrance to the old building.
The transfer was postponed by a few months, inmates’ family members said. The center administration reportedly stopped receiving parcels for prisoners several weeks ago, citing relocation.
Last week, some inmates were transferred to detention facilities in Mahiloŭ and Žodzina, Minsk region, the Dissidentby rights group said.
Alaksandar Łukašenka had ordered the construction of the new pre-trial detention facility and infrastructure near Minsk back in 2010.
