Ex-Malady Front leader Daškievič faces new criminal charge

May 3, Pozirk. A new criminal case has been opened against Źmicier Daškievič, said his wife Nasta Daškievič (Pałažanka).
According to her, the former leader Malady Front opposition group has been charged with violent disorder.
“There were two months left until the end of the current sentence. I have no words, only endless and permanent pain,” she said on Facebook.
In January, she said that she feared for his health and life because he has been held incommunicado for more than six months.
Daškievič should have been released in July 2023 after serving 1.5 years for attending a protest rally. Instead, prison authorities accused him of gross disobedience.
Three months later, Judge Taćciana Dzieravianka sentenced him to another year behind bars.
Human rights defenders designated him as a political prisoner, noting that the first sentence was imposed in connection with a peaceful rally that did not pose any threat to national or public security.
