Łukašenka backs China’s Ukraine proposal at meeting with Xi

July 4, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has declared his support for all Chinese initiatives within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as well as for the main initiative to settle the Ukrainian crisis, his press office reported.
He made the statement at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Astana today.
In the Kazakh capital, Łukašenka also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The subject of their negotiations was not disclosed.
China’s proposal for a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine was published on February 24, 2023, the first anniversary of the Russian invasion.
The 12 points include respect for sovereignty; guarantees of independence and territorial integrity of all countries; priority of international law without “double standards”; respect for the security interests of individual countries and the rejection of strengthening and expanding military blocs; ceasefire, start of peace negotiations; a solution to the humanitarian crisis; the rejection of unilateral sanctions; the stability of production and supply chains to protect the world economy; and assistance in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine, calling it a “special military operation.”
At the initial stage of the invasion, the Russians actively used Belarusian territory for the ground operation and shelling of Ukrainian territory. Łukašenka has repeatedly expressed his support for the Russian campaign.
