Belgrade grateful to Minsk for not recognizing independence of Kosovo

December 26, Pozirk. Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić expressed his gratitude to Minsk and Moscow for not recognizing the independence of Kosovo at yesterday’s meeting with Belarusian and Russian ambassadors in Belgrade.
Serbia’s top diplomat praised both countries for their “principled position on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia,” stressing the importance of support from Minsk and Moscow in international organizations, the Serbian government’s press office reported.
Belarusian ambassador Siarhiej Malinoŭski reportedly discussed major areas of bilateral relations as well as current political affairs.
Some 120 countries recognize Kosovo’s independence from Serbia, yet Belarus is not one of them. Belgrade considers Kosovo an autonomous region of Kosovo and Metohija but has no de facto control over these territories.
