Radyjo Svaboda journalists put on a leave

March 31, Pozirk. Radyjo Svaboda reports that some of its journalists have been put on a leave because of suspended funding.
The Belarusian service of the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty has announced a reduction in articles and a suspension of some flagship shows, including the show “Svaboda Premium.”
It says that on March 15, the US Agency for Global Media announced funding cuts for the RFE/RL after US President Donald Trump ordered to squeeze USAGM and several other federal agencies.
On March 24, temporarily barred USAGM and Kari Lake, President Donald Trump’s senior adviser at the agency, from moving ahead with plans to cut off all federal funds to RFE/RL.
USAGM informed RFE/RL on March 26 that it rescinded the letter terminating its grant agreement and that the agreement was “back in effect.”
The letter added that the recission “is without prejudice to USAGM’s authority to terminate the grant at a later date if USAGM were to determine that such termination was appropriate under the applicable law.”
The network expects USAGM to renew the funding, but in the meantime its money is insufficient for full operations.
