April 6, Pozirk. At least 272 towns were affected by power outages after a heavy snowstorm hit Belarus yesterday.
Power outages have been reported in more than 130 towns in the Minsk region, with the Puchavičy and Słuck districts among the most affected, according to the state-run Minskenierha energy provider, which deployed 39 units, 56 special vehicles and six diesel power stations.
Electricity workers are restoring power supply to some 140 towns in the Mahiloŭ region, most of them in the Babrujsk, Asipovičy, Kiraŭsk and Mahiloŭ districts.
This morning, the Belarusian Railways reported delays in traffic on the Asipovičy-Mahiloŭ route caused by trees that fell on railway tracks.
Cold weather is likely to persist over the next few days.
