Mielnikava’s daughters found in Belarus, staying with their father

April 7, Pozirk. The daughters of missing Belarusian opposition politician Anžalika Mielnikava are in Belarus staying with their father, ex-husband Andrej Mielnikaŭ has told Zierkało.
The man said he does not know his ex-wife’s whereabouts, noting that they have not been in touch for a long time. The daughters are seven and 13 years old.
The missing woman’s associate, Warsaw-based politician Pavieł Łatuška, has said, citing Polish investigators, that she is not in Poland and most likely not in Belarus.
Mielnikava, speaker of the opposition Coordination Council (CC), has not contacted her associates since March 25, Łatuška told Pozirk on March 28.
Her powers have been temporarily transferred to Stanisłava Hlińnik, deputy speaker.
On March 29, Polish interior ministry spokesman Jacek Dobrzyński said that Polish police were investigating her disappearance.
Mielnikava was elected speaker on July 11, 2024. She represented the faction Team Łatuška and Movement for Freedom, which took 28 of 80 seats in the CC.
