Belarus to build Unit 3 at nuclear power plant in Astraviec

November 14, Pozirk. Belarus’ top officials at a government conference today approved the construction of a third unit at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in Astraviec, said former Energy Minister Viktar Karankievich.
The officials also resolved to explore the possibility of building Belarus’ second nuclear plant in the Mahiloŭ region.
Russia’s Rosatom commissioned the plant in Astraviec, Hrodna region, in the fall of 2023. Unit 1 has supplied electricity to the grid since November 2020, and Unit 2 since May 2023. The units began commercial operation in June 2021 and November 2023, respectively.
