January 6, Pozirk. Workers are demolishing the 200-year old Piščałaŭ Castle in downtown Minsk, which used to house Detention Center No.1 also known as Vaładarka, blizko.by reported.
Alaksandar Kochan, CEO of the contractor Minskaja Spadčyna, said in March that five of the complex’s buildings would be repurposed.
The detention center moved to the Kaladzičy industrial area near the village of Paškovičy just outside Minsk in August 2024.
Vaładarka is the facility where many political prisoners have been held over the last two centuries.
