BySol raises €8,000 for former prisoner Sieviaryniec in less than 24 hours

February 18, Pozirk. The BySol’s fundraiser to support opposition politician Pavieł Sieviaryniec, who plans to resume his civil society activities, has collected more than €8,000 in donations since last evening, exceeding the requested €7,000.

Sieviarynic announced that he plans to publish books and launch a YouTube channel following his release from prison and expulsion from Belarus two months ago. He added that he would like to inform Belarusians about developments in Belarus and around the world, record videos about the history and mentality of Belarus and “organize and support Belarusians abroad.”

Seviaryniec, co-chairman of the now-banned Belarusian Christian Democracy party, was arrested in June 2020 after an authorized signature-collection event in support of presidential hopeful Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja. In May 2021, he was given seven years in prison on charges widely seen as politically motivated.

He and the other 122 designated political prisoners were released and transported to Ukraine and Lithuania on December 13, 2025 following a meeting between Aleksandar Łukašenka and John Coale, the US special envoy to Belarus. Seviaryniec and his wife and son currently reside in Vilnius, Lithuania.
