Opposition cabinet to award medals to outstanding Belarusians, Ukrainians
March 24, Pozirk. The opposition cabinet has conferred medals and other awards on distinguished Belarusians and Ukrainians nominated by nonprofits and activists.
The recipients are:
The Freedom Cross will be presented to Aleś Bialacki, a 2022 Nobel Prize laureate.
The Francišak Skaryna Medal goes to Alaksandar Milinkievič, chancellor of the Free Belarusian University.
The Honor and Dignity Medal will be awarded to activist Siarhiej Bahukalc.
The Medal of the Unbroken will be presented to activist Maryja Kaleśnikava. The Medal for Fruitful Work to the Benefit of Belarus will be awarded to Ukrainian diplomat Ihor Kyzym; Ukrainian political analyst Yevhen Magda; Oleh Turiy of the Church History Institute; Belarusian writer Śviatłana Kurs; Yevhen Orda, a military chaplain of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church; Karolina Mackievič of the Belarusian community in the UK; actors Kryscina Drobyš, Ihar Sihaŭ and Siarhiej Čub; and show host Valaryna Kustava.
