Integration a focus of Belarusian, Russian parliaments’ chairmen at session in Minsk

June 20, BPN. Integration has been the focus of Belarusian and Russian parliaments’ chairmen, who are in Minsk for a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.

House of Representatives chairman Uładzimir Andrejčanka said foreign pressure on the Union State will increase.

“In these circumstances, it is vital to work ahead of the curve and deepen integration processes across the entire spectrum of our cooperation,” he told the session, as quoted by Belta.

Russian State Duma chairman Vyacheslav Volodin highlighted the importance of synchronizing the two nations’ legislation “as soon as possible”.

“There should be one legal field, this is exactly the task set by our heads of state,” he said following the session.

Volodin, who heads the Parliamentary Assembly, called for boosting its efficiency: it should be target-oriented, with commissions dedicated to solving specific issues.
