Belarusian exports to CIS up almost 3 percent in H1 2022 – Belstat

August 22, BPN. In the first six months of 2022, Belarusian exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) increased by 2.9 percent year on year, Ina Miadźviedźeva, head of the National Statistical Committee (Belstat), has told journalists at a press conference.

Belstat data show that Belarusian exports to Russia grew by 12.2 percent, to Uzbekistan by 38.5 percent, to Kyrgyzstan by 44.3 percent and to Armenia by 72.3 percent.

According to Miadźviedźeva, a record level of exports to Russia was recorded in June, with cheese, cottage cheese, butter, as well as trucks, tractors and spare parts being in brisk demand on the Russian market.

She also noted that that the share of imported materials, spare parts and fuel shrank to 28.6 percent from 37.6 percent in 2011.

On August 19, Prime Minister Roman Haloŭčanka boasted that exports to Russia had hit a record high of $2 billion in June.

Earlier, Belstat said that overall exports of goods and services fell by 4.2 percent to $21.2 billion in the first half of 2022, while imports fell by 6.8 percent to $18.9 billion.
