Car checked for explosives at Belarus-Poland border

August 26, BPN. Preliminary reports suggest that the item found in the morning of August 26 in a car on the Belarusian-Polish border was not an explosive device, the Investigative Committee’s press office has said.

“During a check by State Border Committee officers of a Kia car at the Varšaŭski Most checkpoint in Brest, a suspicious object was found under the bottom. An investigative team went to the scene immediately. The vehicle is now being examined,” it said.

At 9:47 AM, the State Border Committee’s press office said border guards found a presumably explosive wired item when checking a car with Russian license plates entering the country. The item was “attached to the bottom of the car in the area of the front passenger seat.” Sappers and emergency officers arrived at the scene.

At 11:07 AM, the committee said traffic was restored at the checkpoint.
