Putin notes Łukašenka’s personal role in countering threats to “common security”

August 30, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka makes “a great personal contribution to the development of friendly, allied Russian-Belarusian ties and to partnership in countering threats and challenges to our common security,” Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

In a congratulatory telegram on Łukašenka’s birthday published by the Kremlin’s press service, the Russian leader praised their “good, friendly relations that make a frank and thorough discussion of the most difficult issues possible.”

He expressed hope for “continuation of constructive dialogue” and “close joint work” to “increase bilateral cooperation in all areas and further develop integration in the framework of the Union State.”

Moreover, Putin phoned Łukašenka to wish him happy birthday, and to discuss “some topical issues on the bilateral agenda” and “the situation in Ukraine.”

The phone call was the 15th known contact between Putin and Łukašenka since Russia unleashed a full-scale war on Ukraine.
