BYPOL declared “terrorist organization”

August 31, BPN. At the request of Prosecutor General Andrej Švied, the Supreme Court has declared the association of former security forces BYPOL as well as its Situational Analytical Center and Pieramoha Plan terrorist organizations, the Prosecutor General’s press office reported.

The authorities say that BYPOL activities are associated with “forming radical ideas in society and instigating citizens to extremist activities to change the constitutional order of the Republic of Belarus by illegal means.”

Prosecutors accuse BYPOL of recruiting and persuading its supporters to commit extremist acts, including acts of terrorism.

The Prosecutor’s Office warned that as of August 30, BYPOL’s activities are prohibited in Belarus, while any form of involvement is a crime.
