Rock musician re-arrested in jail
September 5, BPN. A district court in Minsk has sentenced Hrodna rock musician Ihar Bancar to 15 days in jail, the Anarchist Black Cross has said. This is his third consecutive term.
As in the previous two hearings, the man was convicted of disseminating calls to extremism. The musician was arrested in Hrodna on August 4. Relatives said law enforcers knocked out his iron door and took him to Minsk.
On December 17, 2021 the man was freed after serving 18 months for a performance. The musician had been arrested on October 20, 2020 for allegedly showing his genitals to a policeman. According to Bancer, he did take his shorts off while dancing in front of a police car, but had his thong on. On March 19, 2021 a judge sentenced him to 18 months of restricted freedom for hooliganism.
Bancar, 42, has three children. In 2020, he was detained three times over protests and spent 18 days in jail.
