Belarusians should report multiple citizenship to the state – interior minister

September 6, BPN. The Ministry of Internal Affairs suggests that Belarusians be required to report to “relevant authorities” when they are granted foreign citizenship or preferences such as the Pole’s Card, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakoŭ has said, after a meeting with Alaksandr Łukašenka.

The video clip of his remarks has been published by the ministry’s press office.

According to Kubrakoŭ, a bill is being drafted to make it an offense failure to file this kind of information.

The state could use these details when appointing officials, assigning pensions and benefits and resolving bureaucratic issues, the minister said.

The Pole’s Card confirms that a foreigner belongs to the Polish nation. It does not automatically make the foreigner a Polish citizen or give her the right to permanently reside in Poland.
