Belarus not invited to European Political Community summit in Prague

September 8, BPN. Belarus, along with Russia and Kazakhstan, was not invited to the European Political Community summit, scheduled to take place on October 6 and 7 in Prague, before the EU leaders meeting, BBC reported.

A number of post-Soviet states, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, were invited. Twelve non-EU countries are expected to participate, among them Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Turkey, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

French President Emmanuel Macron came up with the idea of a European political community this spring, noting the need for a community of states that share the same values as the EU.

The French leader believes that it can strengthen political unity and cooperation across the continent.

At the first summit, delegations are expected to discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the energy crisis and economic issues.
