Łukašenka: USA plans to destroy Belarus

September 17, BPN. Belarusian leader Alaksandr Łukašenka has accused the United States of planning to destroy his country.

“The USA is pushing Europe into a military confrontation with Russia on Ukrainian territory. It does not hide its plans,” he told a crowd of supporters on National Unity Day, a controversial state holiday. “That is, Ukraine will be razed to the ground, and the goal is to weaken Russia and destroy Belarus.”

Washington has repeatedly stated its support for Belarusian sovereignty. At the same time, it does not recognize Łukašenka as a legitimate president, citing election fraud. In July 2021, US President Joe Biden received Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja, Łukašenka’s chief rival in the 2020 election who considers herself president-elect.
