Cichanoŭskaja urges strong UN response to strike on Ukraine nuclear plant

September 19, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has called for a strong reaction from the UN General Assembly to a strike on Ukraine’s Pivdennoukrainsk nuclear power plant.

A Russian missile struck the plant’s area on September 19, damaging equipment but not the three reactors, Ukrainian state nuclear operator Energoatom said.

“This nuclear blackmail endangers not only Ukraine and Belarus, but the entire world,” Cichanoŭskaja tweeted.

The politician is now in New York, where she is planning to participate in events linked to the 77th General Assembly, her press office said.
